Come to your own conclusions about this one.

Over February vacation, Minuteman Career and Technical H.S. invited me back to teach their Get Graphic program. I graduated from Minuteman in 98′ with a certification in Graphic Communications. So, being back in my old classroom as a teacher has been a unique opportunity. Over the past couple years, I have taught exploratory curriculum to prospective students, grades 5-8.  First, students start with colorizing some line art getting familiar with some essential tools in Adobe Photoshop CS4: Project 2 was to create a poster by combining several images. Students learned how to work with layers, cutout specific parts of images and adjust color, transparency and contrast.  After the poster project, the students moved onto creating a calendar, which is the most challenging and fun assignment for the students. The assignment requires creating 16 unique pages, which all tied into a cohesive theme. Here are some examples:

The "liquify" tool was used on this celebrity. Can you guess who it is?

How about this guy?

More liquify tool...

Here is the artist himself.

I really enjoyed helping students develop their calendars. At this point in the process, the students started to get very comfortable with many tools in Photoshop. This boy integrated his picture into scenes of his favorite movies and rock groups:

I love how the boy's head was enlarged to match the Family Guy crew.

He told me his parents would not be happy about this image. Turns out, they were very impressed with how well his picture blended into the band image.

Happy Halloween!!

What ever happened to puppies and rainbows?

This student decided to combine her favorite creatures together (including herself!)

No words can express how I feel about this one.

The clone and blending tools were carefully used to create this awesome image.
